Meet Bev.

Beverly is a 1 year old Silver Laced Wyandotte who lives to give me the side eye. She is smart, sassy, bossy and beautiful. She keeps to herself and doesn’t care much for my hugs and cuddles. Even though she isn’t the most social hen she is a stunner to look at and a cherished member of the flock.

Meet Zuri.

Zuri is one fierce, feisty and broody lady! She’s a 1 year old Paint Bearded Silkie and is my top mama! She hatched out our first clutch of eggs a couple months back and proved to be an amazing mama hen. You will almost always find her laying in the corner of the coop trying to make babies.

Meet Prim.

Okay so I know you aren’t suppose to have favorites but IF I did it would definitely be her…but shhhh, don’t tell the other girls. Prim is my ultra friendly and adorable 1 year old buff bearded Silkie and she truly holds my heart. She always runs to greet me when I open the gate to the yard and sits on my lap as long as I like. She gives any official therapy animal a run for their money. She’s my Prim girl and she’s one in a million!

Meet Polly.

This is Polly one of the senior members of my flock. She knows she the boss and holds the title of Top of the Pecking Order. She runs the roost with the perfect blend of strength and gentleness. She’s a 4 year old Isa Brown and lays a large brown egg almost every day. She has never been one to come up and ask for a pet or squat in submission but I know she loves me because of all the snacks and treats I throw her way. She’s is one carb motivated lady, let me tell ya!

Meet Sookie.

Sookie is my sweet and silly 1 year old Ameracauna. She is so curious and always trying to figure out what I’m doing. Her beard is my favorite attribute of hers and always puts a smile on my face. She lays the most beautiful bright blue eggs and is a joy to have in the chicken yard.

Meet Little Brown Hen.

She’s sweet yet very stubborn. She’s friendly to all but close to none. She lays an egg almost every day but never where she’s suppose to. She is rather simple and plain to look at but the best choice when you want to take a chicken selfie. She’s from the first batch of chicks I raised and the oldest hen in my flock She never stood out to me in the beginning so she’s the one that never got a name and was simply referred to as Little Brown Hen. Over the years her quirks became endearing and she slowly found a sweet spot nestled in the corner of my heart. She’s the one, the only, Little Brown Hen!

Meet Sunset.

This little Splash Silkie beauty is Sunset. We adopted her and her sister Zuri last summer and has loved having them in our flock. Sunset is the fastest hen I’ve ever seen and so she’s known as roadrunner when its time to catch her for her monthly bath. She is such a sweet and fun girl and will make a wonderful mama hen someday!

Meet Daphne.

I lovingly refer to this bearded lady as my “dog chicken”. She follows me around the chicken yard, begs for treats and loves a good back scratch. She’s a 1 year old Ameracauna and, like her sister Sookie, she lays those stunning blue eggs. She is the sweetest and most inquisitive chicken and I love her to pieces!

Meet Sally.

Sally is a 1 year old Rhode Island Red and has the most vibrant red feathers of any I’ve ever seen. She is a great friend to the rest of the flock and you can always count on her to be a peacemaker. She is the first to lay her egg every morning and the last to get in the coop at night. She’s the bravest of all and will always find that weak spot in the fence line in order to score a snack under the neighbors oak trees. We love our smart and kind red hen, Sally.

Meet the new babies.

We have chicks! We came home a couple weeks ago from our local feed store with two Buff Orpington’s, three Golden Laced Wyandotte’s and one Silver Laced Wyandotte. This is Ginger here and isn’t she stunning!! Those feathers are coming in beautiful and as their personalities come to life they will get their own introductions!

Meet the silkie chicks.

Our broody mama’s Zuri and Estella hatched out our first home grown chicks this spring! They both did an amazing job however, like usual, it appears that most (if not all) are roosters. Why is that always how it goes!? On a sad note we lost Estella a couple weeks back to our first predator attack. I’m thankful she was able to hatch out some of her offspring so her legacy can continue on in our flock.

Meet Cookie and Coconut.

These two little rascals are our buff orpington’s we picked up from the feed store a couple weeks ago and they already have proven to be memorable. When I brought them home I noticed Cookie would peck at my fingers every time I’d reach in their brooder. I was starting to think she was a mean little thing but once I let them out into the chicken yard their curious personalities began to shine through. The pecking was her way of figuring things out and she hasn’t stopped! She pecks at my shoes, my pant legs, the corner of the coop, ny necklace, my wine glass. Everything. Both are so fun to have around and are especially good with my kids. These buff sisters are gonna give Polly a hard time and it will be a fight to see who claims the title of “Top of the Pecking Order” soon. Better enjoy your throne while you can Polly.
