Did You Know Chickens Can Count?

Did you know chickens can count? One study from the University of Padova demonstrates how chicks can recognize difference in values. Researchers placed three objects behind a screen and only two behind another. The chicks would consistently go towards the screen with more objects behind it.

Did you know chicken’s dream? They also have the ability to sleep with one eye open and the other closed. This keeps half of their brain active and sensing for predators while the other half rests.

Did you know chicken’s can recognize over 100 faces? They even have favorites and prefer “attractive” people.

Did you know chickens can see a broader range of colors than humans? Some breeds of chickens can actually sense magnetic fields!

It’s very important to me that my chickens have the best lives possible because they are indeed smart and unique created! It makes me incredibly sad witnessing chickens living in unacceptable conditions especially when I see how smart, curious, funny, lovable and social creatures they are!

They were not created to live their lives in small cages, crammed together at factory farms, or to be kept in the corner of a yard without interaction with their humans..

Chickens need space to forage, a place to lay their eggs in peace without stress, clean living environments, dry food and fresh water and love.

Love your chickens and they’ll love you back, provide you with healthy beautiful eggs, and bring you joy.
